A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Amen

Prayer and Message from the Rector
God of love and hope be with us in our Advent journey from the beginning to the end, be with us in our meeting and journeying, be with us in our worship and prayer, be with us in our Advent journey our God of love and hope. Amen
As I drive from the vicarage into town there are loads of houses with all their Christmas lights on and blow up Santa’s and reindeers in the gardens. The television seems to have been bombarding us with the perfect Christmas meals and gifts for days. I heard it on the radio that the sales of Venus fly traps have rocketed from 2,000 usually to over 40,000 after the plant was part of the advertising campaigns of two of the larger stores.
However, while everybody else is hurtling into Christmas it is for us a period of preparation and reflection as we think on the coming of Christ at Christmas and also in Glory at the end of the age. It is a time when we prepare for the coming of Christ. This Sunday is the start of year B in the church calendar when we start our journey with Mark. Mark is the shortest of the Gospels and everything is very immediate and there feels to be an urgency to tell the story once again of how God came to earth in the form of Jesus Christ. Once again the story begins. Blessings Richard
